Majority Report Contributor Michael Brooks is hosting the show for Sam Seder today. In this clip, Senator Susan Collins talks to Jake Tapper about healthcare.
“Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), one of three Republicans who voted to oppose the GOP’s efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare this week, tells CNN’s Jake Tapper that “there are serious problems with the ACA.”
“The ball is really in our court right now,” she said about moving forward with reforms. Collins was one of three GOP senators who broke with the party to defeat the plan backed by the Senate leadership and the White House.
“We’re seeing collapsing markets in some areas of the country where, even though people have subsidies, they’re not going to be able to buy an insurance policy. So, our job is not done,” she explained.
Collins suggests splitting the health care bill which failed into a “series of bills” that can be voted on individually. “Congress doesn’t do comprehensive well,” she noted.”*
